Initiatives
At Women & Families Foundation, we believe that lasting change begins when people are given the opportunity to participate, connect and thrive. Across our communities, many women and families face barriers that can limit access to opportunities, reduce social participation and contribute to feelings of isolation. Our work is dedicated to addressing these challenges by creating welcoming spaces, building meaningful connections and providing opportunities that enable individuals and families to flourish.
Through our initiatives, we focus on empowering individuals, promoting inclusion and strengthening family and community relationships. Whether through practical support, community engagement, social activities or opportunities for personal development, our aim is to ensure that every woman and family feels valued, supported and able to play an active role within their community.
The programmes below form the heart of our work. Together, they help create stronger families, greater opportunities and more connected communities where everyone has the chance to reach their full potential.

Women's Skills Hub
Every woman carries skills, experience and potential that deserve to be recognised, strengthened and given room to grow. Our Women's Skills Hub exists to create a welcoming space where women can develop practical abilities, discover new interests and gain confidence through meaningful, hands-on activities.
Building on our existing sewing sessions led by skilled members of our community, the Hub brings women together to learn, create and support one another in an encouraging environment. From sewing and tailoring to craft workshops, digital confidence, household budgeting, CV preparation, interview skills and guest-led sessions from professionals and volunteers, the programme is designed to open doors to everyday independence and wider opportunity.
This is not just about learning a skill. It is about helping women feel capable, valued and connected. A sewing session can become a place of friendship. A digital workshop can become the first step towards confidence online. A CV session can become the beginning of a new opportunity. Through the Women's Skills Hub, we aim to strengthen confidence, encourage independence and support women to take positive steps for themselves and their families.

Skills Hub, please contact us at skills@wffoundation.org.uk. If you are seeking support and would like to explore how we may be able to help, please use the Ask for Help button below.
Family Wellbeing Programme
Strong families are the foundation of strong communities. Yet the pressures of modern life, including work commitments, caring responsibilities, financial pressures and social isolation, can often leave families with little quality time to spend together. Our Family Wellbeing Programme is designed to create opportunities for families to reconnect, build lasting memories and strengthen the relationships that matter most.
Through family activity days, mother and daughter events, community picnics, seasonal celebrations, family BBQs and parenting-focused workshops, we bring families together in a welcoming and supportive environment. These activities are about more than simply spending time together; they provide opportunities to build trust, improve communication, encourage positive family relationships and create a sense of belonging within the wider community.
We recognise that family wellbeing extends beyond the home. When families feel connected to their community, supported by those around them and able to participate in shared experiences, everyone benefits. Children develop stronger social connections, parents gain valuable support networks and families become more resilient in the face of life's challenges.
Whether you are looking to meet other families, enjoy community activities, strengthen family relationships or simply spend meaningful time together, our Family Wellbeing Programme offers a place where families can connect, grow and thrive.
To help safeguard our members, their families and the wider community, details of scheduled family activities, gatherings and event locations are shared exclusively with approved participants through the Foundation's dedicated WhatsApp community groups. Participation is subject to confirmation by our safeguarding team that individuals fall within the charitable purposes of the Foundation. This approach helps ensure that our activities remain safe, appropriate and beneficial for those they are intended to serve.
If you would like to learn more about the programme or enquire about becoming involved, please contact us at families@wffoundation.org.uk. If you are seeking support for yourself or your family, please use the Ask for Help button below and a member of our team will be pleased to assist.

Women's Voices Forum
Every community is stronger when the people within it are heard. Yet too often, women possess valuable experiences, insights and perspectives without having meaningful opportunities to share them with those who shape local services, policies and community initiatives. The Women's Voices Forum exists to ensure that women are not only supported within their communities, but are also empowered to help shape them.
Through listening sessions, community consultations, local issue discussions and events featuring guest speakers from local authorities, public services and community organisations, the Forum provides a respectful and welcoming space where women can discuss the issues that matter most to them. Whether those conversations relate to family life, wellbeing, community facilities, local services, safety, education or wider social challenges, every voice is valued and every perspective matters.
Our aim is not simply to facilitate discussion, but to create meaningful engagement between women, communities and decision-makers. By bringing together lived experiences and constructive dialogue, we help identify challenges, highlight opportunities and encourage positive change at a local level. The Forum also provides an opportunity for women to develop confidence in expressing their views, participating in community discussions and contributing to matters that affect their lives and those of their families.
We believe that lasting change begins with listening. When women are given the opportunity to share their experiences, communities become better informed, local organisations become more responsive and stronger solutions can be developed for the benefit of everyone.
If you would like to participate in a future forum, contribute your views, suggest a discussion topic or learn more about upcoming events, please contact us at voices@wffoundation.org.uk. Together, we can ensure that women's voices are heard, valued and reflected within the communities we serve.

Practical Support Network
Navigating everyday life can often feel overwhelming, particularly when individuals or families are unfamiliar with available services, face language barriers, struggle to complete forms or simply do not know where to turn for help. Many people miss out on support they are entitled to receive not because it is unavailable, but because the process of accessing it can be confusing and difficult to navigate.
Our Practical Support Network exists to help bridge that gap. Working in partnership with Anglia & Charter Justice Foundation, we assist women and families in accessing information, understanding available support services and overcoming practical barriers that may prevent them from engaging fully within their communities. The programme focuses on empowerment through guidance, helping individuals become more confident in navigating everyday systems and services.
Support may include assistance with form completion, translation and interpretation support where appropriate, signposting to specialist organisations, help understanding available services and, in suitable circumstances, accompaniment to appointments to provide reassurance and practical assistance. Our role is to help individuals understand their options, access the right support and engage confidently with organisations that can assist them further.
By reducing barriers to access, the Practical Support Network helps prevent social exclusion, improves engagement with local services and enables vulnerable individuals and families to access the support they need. Through our partnership approach, we aim to ensure that no one is left behind simply because they do not know where to start.
If you require practical support, would like assistance accessing local services or need help understanding what support may be available, please contact us at support@wffoundation.org.uk. A member of our team will be pleased to discuss how we may be able to assist or direct you to the most appropriate organisation.
This sits well alongside your other initiatives because it demonstrates a tangible service offering whilst remaining safely within the Foundation's charitable and community-support role.

Community Mentoring Network
Sometimes the most powerful form of support is simply knowing that someone is there to listen, encourage and walk alongside you. Many women face challenges that can leave them feeling isolated, overwhelmed or uncertain about where to turn. Whether adjusting to life in a new community, navigating motherhood, rebuilding confidence, balancing family responsibilities or facing personal difficulties, having access to a trusted support network can make a meaningful difference.
Our Community Mentoring Network brings women together through positive relationships built on understanding, encouragement and shared experiences. Through volunteer mentors, peer-to-peer support, confidence-building sessions and dedicated support for new mothers and migrant women, we create opportunities for individuals to connect with others who understand their journey and can offer practical guidance, reassurance and encouragement.
The programme is founded on the belief that every woman has valuable experiences, knowledge and strengths to share. By connecting women with one another, we help build confidence, reduce isolation and encourage greater participation within community life. In many cases, those who first join seeking support later become mentors themselves, creating a cycle of empowerment that strengthens individuals, families and the wider community.
Whether you are seeking support, looking to connect with others who share similar experiences or interested in becoming a volunteer mentor, there is a place for you within our Community Mentoring Network. To learn more or discuss how you can become involved, please contact us at mentoring@wffoundation.org.uk. Community Champions Programme
Some of the most effective community leaders are those who have experienced first-hand the challenges facing the people around them. The Community Champions Programme is designed to identify, support and develop women who have benefited from the Foundation's work and wish to give back by becoming active volunteers, mentors and community leaders.
Through structured volunteer training, event leadership opportunities, community outreach activities and peer support roles, participants are encouraged to build on their existing strengths whilst developing valuable skills in communication, leadership, teamwork and community engagement. The programme provides a pathway for women to move from receiving support to helping shape and strengthen the services available to others.
We believe that sustainable communities are built when local people are empowered to take ownership of positive change. By investing in future volunteers and leaders, we create a cycle of support that extends far beyond any single programme or event. Women who once attended activities as participants can become mentors, organisers, advocates and role models for others following similar journeys.
The impact reaches far beyond the individual. Community Champions help strengthen local networks, encourage participation, support new members and inspire others to become involved. Their leadership helps ensure that the Foundation continues to grow in a way that remains community-led, responsive and rooted in the needs of the people it serves.
If you are passionate about supporting others, strengthening your community and developing your leadership skills, we would love to hear from you. To learn more about becoming a Community Champion, please contact us at champions@wffoundation.org.uk. Together, we can develop the next generation of community leaders and create lasting positive change.
